She's a Winner!

Jess won a gym bag full of work-out goodies from the Health and Wellness Center here on post. She was soooo excited! Yay!! She got some pretty cool stuff: a fitness ball, hand weights, a jump rope, football, water bottle, pedometer... and then the cool bag to put it all in!
Go Jess!

Biking on the Canal Trail

Chris had been wanting to try out a new bike trail, so on the 17th we loaded up the bikes and headed to the trail along the Canal. It was fairly flat and was a lot of fun. The trail runs between the Savannah River and the Canal. It has beautiful views along the way and it was a perfect evening to go. I towed Jillian and Chris took all the photos!

Military Children Day

April is the Month of the Military Child and every year there are lots of fun activities for the kids on military posts. We went to the festivities this year on the 17th. They had lots of fun booths for the kids to win prizes and get free stuff. The Verizon booth was handing out free phones (old sample dummy phones - but still cool!) Jilli loved her red one with it's slide-out keyboard! She can text now!! Hee hee! They had rides and music and food. Chris really liked the rock wall. Jess and Miah tried it but they didn't get too far up... Oh well! It was a really fun morning. Yay for Military Kids!

This mural was put up by the Library and Jess and Jillian were in heaven painting on it!

Here you could try out your football, soccer and baseball skills....

Gurosik's Strawberry Farm

On the 16th, we took a field trip with our fun homeschool group to Gurosik's Strawberry Farm. It was a fabulous field trip and we just LOVE picking fresh strawberries! Yummers! We got their early and took some photos while we waited for everyone to arrive. Once we were all there, the tour guide started us out with a trip to the berry patch where we each filled a container with sweet strawberries. Then we split up and went to feed their catfish in the pond. It was crazy! You could have walked across on catfish there were so many!! That was cool. Then they took us to visit one of their beehives. They make fresh honey there too and we got to taste some. Very good! After that, we went back tot he picnic tables and they served us a strawberry slush made with real, unsweetened strawberry juice and ice! Very sweet!! The tour was over and we went into the farm market to buy some fresh produce: baby red potatoes, asparagus, peppers, peach and pecan fritters, squash... good stuff! It was a perfect day to go out and visit the farm and I just know we'll be back for more fresh fruits and veggies!

Jilli was still not awake...

but when we told her about the strawberries... She perked right up!

Waiting!
